THE REFEREE

Foul Detection

GOOD

Comment...

The referee managed to spot most of the fouls that occured in the match and acted upon them well. In the 30th min there was a foul on a Manchester United player, the referee tried to play advantage and pulled it back for the free kick when there was no advantage. The referee missed a small majority of fouls that occured. An example of this would be in the 90th minute where red #25 got fouled, the referee awarded a free kick against red for handball.

Positioning

GOOD
Comment...
The referee had very good positions throughout the match and took excellent positions at set pieces. This allowed him to make sure that the set piece is carried out as the law states. He always was in a good position which allowed him to make a lot of the good decisions that he made. However he was very often close the play which could have obstructed players views.

Man Management

EXCELLENT

Comment...
The referee had very good man management and showed this through hand signals through out the game to explain reasons for his decisions. He kept his match control throughout the match and spoke to players when necessary about conduct. This was shown in the 42nd minute where Red #4 committed a foul. The referee spoke to the player which in end prevent a caution from being given.

Card Issuing

SATISFACTORY

Comment...
The referee used his cards very well and kept them within his pocket until the second half. However there was an instance in the 14th minute where there was an out of control tackle on the reds that went without any action. This foul should have been a caution. Most of the yellow cards that were given were justified and were correctly administered. In the 76th minute, Red #23 commited a foul which he was shown a yellow card, which was clearly justified, however the white #5 received a yellow card too which was not clearly justified

Fitness

EXCELLENT

Comment...
The referee managed to keep up with play at all times which meant that all the correct decision were given. The referee did not stick to the diagonal line which mean that he was near play at all times to make sure that the correct decisions were made.

THE ASSISTANT REFEREES

Assistant 1 - VERY GOOD [8.6]
Assistant 2 - GOOD [8.3]

Comment...
Both assistants had good games but did not have any major decisions to make, Assistant 1 made correct decisions on a close offside in 52nd minute. Assistant 1 also helped to identify fouls that occurred near him. Both assistants called all the correct decisions on throw ins

OVERALL

GOOD

SCORE

8.4/10
